Schlüsselworte: For the next few weeks we are going to continue our study on the Holy Spirit. I believe one of the doctrines that we really need to get right in the church is the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. We are often guilty of spinning a theory of the Holy Spirit that is based more on unchristian concepts than on biblical revelation. I would like to help correct this by simply preaching a series of biblical messages on the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Christ said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand" (Mark 3:25). Paul wrote expressing the desire that "you all speak the same thing ... perfectly joined together in the same mind" (1 Cor 1:10). Unity in the church is not just important - it's essential. There are many things in church life we can disagree about, but we must have clear agreement on key doctrinal truths, ethical standards, and our purpose and direction as a church. We should be in agreement that Jesus died, rose again, and is coming again - and that people can be saved through faith in him. We should be in complete agreement to love the Lord, to love one another, and to love the world and share the gospel. We should be in agreement that we take our stand on the Bible, and consider it to be God's Word.
